"Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children." -Jesus
Parents, you've got a tough job, but we’re all in this together! That’s why one of our cultural values is Community on Mission. Children are just as welcome in worship as adults and because of the interactive nature of worship (from catchy songs to prayers & creeds that are easily memorized even from a young age), we welcome kids to participate in worship with their families! To help facilitate this, we have a couple of recommendations that might help you out:
babies & toddlers
Need a diaper change? A changing station is located in the women’s bathroom. Worried your baby or toddler will make noise? We aren't! The Bible tells us "make a joyful noise to the Lord" (Psalm 100:1) and there is no more joyful sound than children playing. The best thing we can teach children at this developmental stage is that church is a fun, safe place to be. Towards the back of the worship space, we have rocking chairs and a small play area with toys for toddlers.
Want to grow in community with other parents of young kids, join a community group with others with kids the same age! Email Matt Doering for more information.
elementary
During the message, Narrative Kids (geared towards PreK through elementary) in a classroom across the hall from the Chapel for an age-appropriate lesson based on the Bible passage and theme for the day. Coloring pages and children's Bibles are available during the service (don't have a Bible at home? Take one of ours!).
middle & high
We love the fact that our students learn to worship alongside us! Also, students of this age serve alongside everyone at Narrative, if your student wants to serve shoot an email to Matt Doering.
Every other week our students head out for a Bible Study where they not only learn how to read their Bibles but also get an opportunity to teach their fellow students.
Confirmation is the process in which we teach our students (6-8 grade) to trust, seek, and follow Jesus. It is part of growing in their faith, helping it take deeper root. It takes place for 30-45 minutes during or after worship on Sundays. The focus of this time is to gain Biblical knowledge, an understanding of basic doctrine and theology, and apply these teachings to our daily walk with Jesus. You can email Pastor Ted (ted@narrative.church) and Becky Krentz (dcebecky@verizon.net) to get more information. Find the confirmation schedule here.
Once a month there are community groups geared towards parents and students in this age group called “Next Gen”. For more information about Next Gen Parents email Becky Krentz and for Next Gen Students touch base with Pastor Ted.
